Class Descriptions

Shining Stars

Age 2-4

This is a fun introductory dance class where children are made aware of body orientation, self-confidence, following instructions, and class structure. Ballet and Movement are introduced through games, songs, and different props. We prefer if dancers can enter the class independently, but we welcome a parent/guardian to participate with dancers if they need extra encouragement. Discounts will be applied for dancers enrolled in multiple classes and families with multiple siblings enrolled in our programs. 

Open for trial class for age 3 and under.

Twinkling Stars

Age 3.5-5

This is a fun introductory dance class where children are made aware of body orientation, self-confidence, following instructions, and class structure. Ballet (25 min) and tap (25 min) are introduced through games, songs, and different props. This class requires dancers to enter the class independently without a parent or guardian.  Discounts will be applied for dancers enrolled in multiple classes and families with multiple siblings enrolled in our programs.

Open for age 4 to attend a trial class.

Rising Stars

Age 4.5-7

In this class, students will learn the basic concepts of ballet, tap, jazz and/or hip-hop technique. This class encourages self-confidence, spatial awareness, and other basic skills that are fundamental for dance and daily basic development. Dancers learn social skills and the importance of teamwork. This combined class is offered for dancers enrolled only one day on Wednesday and those dancers taking Tuesday and Thursday must enroll in both classes.  Dancers may choose to enroll in only ballet and/or Tap, but to enroll in jazz/hip hop class they are required to be enrolled in ballet. Discounts will be applied for dancers enrolled in multiple classes and families with multiple siblings enrolled in our programs.

Ages 5-7 can sign up for a trial in our Rising Star class and will be assessed for class placement.

Ballet Class

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dancing. It provides the grace, poise and technique needed to be proficient in other area of dance and acrobatics. Dancers progress at an individual pace and will work on age appropriate ballet technique. 
Dancers will be assess during their trial class and determine class placement.​

Tap

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes to strike the floor as a form of percussion. Tap dance focuses on rhythm, timing and phrasing. Tap dancers make frequent use of syncopation and improvisation. Tap is a fun and energetic form of dance.​

Tap Dancers
Jazz Dancers

Jazz

In jazz dance, the dancers will utilize movements such as turns, leaps and isolations, while also focusing on jazz technique, jazz terminology, strength and flexibility. You can find jazz dance in Broadway shows, music videos, awards shows, and on many reality dance television shows. Famous jazz dancers and choreographers include Luigi, Jerome Robbins, Bob Fosse, and Gus Giordano.

Prerequisite: Concurrently enrolled in Ballet.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews and music videos. This class will include warm-up, conditioning and stylized dance moves.​

Musical Theatre Jazz

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines singing, acting, and dancing to tell a story. It includes the integration of music, lyrics, spoken dialogue, and choreography to convey emotions, advance the plot, and engage the audience.
Musical theatre provides your child with a unique platform to showcase their talents, express themselves artistically, and create a captivating and immersive theatrical experience for audiences.

Prerequisite: Age 7+; Concurrently enrolled in Jazz.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a graceful and emotionally expressive form of dance that combines elements of ballet, jazz, and contemporary styles. It focuses on interpreting the lyrics and mood of a song through fluid movements and storytelling.


In lyrical dance, your child will learn to convey a narrative or express emotions using their body, facial expressions, and the music’s lyrics. Dancers use flowing, sweeping movements, leaps, turns, and extensions to portray the essence of the music and convey a sense of lyricism and poetry.

Contemporary Dancer

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a captivating and expressive form of movement that combines lyrical, jazz, and ballet, creating a unique and modern artistic experience. It encourages dancers to explore their creativity, individuality, and emotions through fluid movements, flexibility, and improvisation.


In contemporary dance classes, your child will learn a wide range of techniques such as floor work, release technique, and partnering exercises. They will develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness while also honing their improvisational skills and musicality.

Prerequisite: Age 7+; Concurrently enrolled in Jazz.

Acro Dance

Acrobatic dance is a unique blend of dance and acrobatics that combines fluid movement, flexibility, and acrobatic skills to create a captivating performance. It showcases the seamless integration of athletic maneuvers, such as flips, tricks, balances, and contortions, with elements of dance technique, choreography, and artistic expression.

The fusion of acrobatics and dance creates a visually stunning display of physicality, grace, and storytelling and offers a thrilling and awe-inspiring experience for both performers and audiences alike.

Prerequisite: Age 7+; Minimum two years of Ballet; Concurrently enrolled in Ballet. We highly recommend dancers in this class also enroll in Tumbling Strength and Conditioning.
